I can remember so many times when a handwritten note showed up in my mailbox with the simple message of “I’m thinking of you”. Or someone left a piece of dark chocolate (my favorite!) on my desk with a note that said “hope you’re having a good day”. Birthdays and anniversaries are usually marked with gifts and cards but when was the last time an ordinary day was the reason to let someone know you’re thinking of them?
There is an entire website dedicated to this day! Random Acts of Kindness Day has ideas and free printables that can be used not just once on February 17 but 365 days a year. For example, the one that really caught my eye is the Kindness Jar. Using a jar or even an empty box or basket, write down every act of kindness you become aware of over the course of one week. Whether it’s something you did, or heard about, or witnessed, write it down. At the end of the week, take the slips out and feel the positive wave of knowing how much kindness is in the world. Who doesn’t need that?
My goal is to do this activity starting today and look forward to that wave—how about you?
